Ten American painters… working outdoors and in studios on both coasts and points in between. By coming together in this joint display of their work, these ten artists offer a look at the diversity of realist/impressionist painting in America today.
Their backgrounds are as diverse as their art. Most of them, while harboring a lifelong interest in art, spent years in other professions before turning to painting fulltime. They have all, over time and through dedication to their craft, developed a uniquely personal approach to their art.
Some come from artistic families. Some are first generation artists. Their art education ranges from university fine arts programs to studies and workshops with outstanding professionals. Their work ranges from very small to very large, and includes still lifes, landscapes, seascapes, city views, figurative subjects and nostalgic old structures.
They live in Connecticut, Massachusetts, South Carolina, Alabama, Texas, Arizona and California, and in many cases their paintings reflect their surroundings. Working in a variety of mediums, their styles and subject choices are as diverse as their geographic locations. Classical and impressionist influences can be seen in work that goes from quiet realism to action, and reaches to bold strokes of color. The group includes award winners, represented by multiple galleries, or representing themselves at art festivals.
Their love for what they do is apparent in every painting. While they have all come to understand that the only way to become the best they can be is to paint every day, they do it primarily for another reason. They do it because they have to.
These are not just painters. These are every day painters.
